Swimming in the Cold

It may be freezing out, but just because it’s the winter, doesn’t mean that you can’t get the most out of your Above Ground Pool. Across the country, more and more people are discovering the benefits of cold water swimming.

Our friends over at thenextchallenge.org have detailed five of the benefits of cold water swimming, which can be an invigorating new use of your physical therapy pool. Among these benefits is a boost to the immune system, as researchers have found an increase in white blood cell production following the usage of cold water swimming. In addition to an improvement in your immune system, an increase in blood circulation has also been observed in cold water swimmers, which can lead to better looking skin, and a general rise in circulation to your extremities. With these benefits in mind, you might be willing to brave the cold and use your therapy pool for a whole other set of benefits other that the ones you can gain in the warmer months. It is recommended to acclimate to the cold slowly, so even though you might be in a rush to embrace your inner-polar bear, make sure you take your time acclimating to the colder waters. And if you have any heart problems, consult your doctor before any possible arctic dips.

If the cold just isn’t your cup of tea, however, you can still use your exercise pool throughout the year with our available iPool Above Ground Heater and iPool2 Above Ground Heater. Just make sure to have a towel nearby for your race inside and out of the cold!
