Swimming for Physical Therapy

One of the many benefits of swimming is that it is great for physical therapy!  If you are missing your regular run, walk, bike, or sports workout – give swimming a try because you won’t want to stop!

There is no denying that swimming is great exercise and works your entire body.  That’s one of the reasons why it is perfect for physical therapy.  There is also no harsh impact on your joints, but you still strengthen your cardiovascular system and muscles, as well as improve your posture, flexibility, and endurance.  It can be frustrating during rehabilitation when you are not able to do your typical exercise, but don’t worry because you can still swim!  If you are concerned with burning off those calories, keep in mind swimming for an hour can burn as many calories as running six miles in an hour.  You can rebuild your muscles so that you are in shape when you are done with physical therapy, even though you’ll probably want to keep swimming.

With the iPool harness, your physical therapy experience can be even better.  The harness will build yourself up to the resistance you are comfortable with and you will be able to see your progress as you swim against more and more resistance!  You can also change your workout based on the harnesses position so you don’t get bored.  To challenge yourself, there are also accessories to get even more out of your iPool workout, including a walker, shoulder press bar, and a chin up bar for when you physical therapy allows or when you just don’t want to stop using your pool.

You don’t have to worry about missing your therapy because you ran out of time in your busy, busy life. There’s no gym membership to pay and you don’t have to go to another location to do your workout!  You can get your therapy done right in your own home and even install the pool inside your home.
